Development Blog
In this blog we rant and rave about ongoing development issues related to BlueOnyx. In there we'll talk about code and features that we are currently working on and which may or may not see the light of day.
The development work to port the new BlueOnyx 5211R GUI over to BlueOnyx 5210R has started. Further progress report on the BlueOnyx 5211R development Progress report on the BlueOnyx 5211R development CentOS 7 is finally showing it's age. Developer diary entry about re-spinning an AlmaLinux 8 ISO to provide us with a custom BlueOnyx 5210R installation ISO. Some updates and ramblings about the ongoing BlueOnyx 5211R development on EL9. Developer diary entry about re-spinning CentOS 8 and AlmaLinux 8 to provide us with a custom BlueOnyx 5210R installation ISO. CentOS 8 has (finally) been released. The development for BlueOnyx 5210R is now underway at full steam. Some more updates about the progress of the BlueOnyx 5210R development. Some more updates about the progress of the BlueOnyx 5210R development. Some feedback on the development of BlueOnyx 5210R on RHEL8 beta. Some impressions from the IPv6 support that is currently in development for BlueOnyx 5209R. I thought I share a recent run in with a pretty nasty SPAM-wave (more like a Tsunami!) that I was getting and how this will help to improve the AV-SPAM. I finally managed to tackle a long standing nuisance in relation to building CDs for BlueOnyx: The location of the kickstart files. I'd like to give a small update on the SSL situation on BlueOnyx. It's just a FYI and to let you know about some of the thought processes of behind our constant attempts to stay on the forefront of providing secure SSL/TLS on BlueOnyx. We just had another run in with Systemd and I thought I'd share our findings for posterity. The BlueOnyx 5209R development has just reached another important milestone. There is currently an interesting Systemd related discussion on the Linux kernel developer list. My take on this - and Systemd in general. The last six days I tried to build updated BlueOnyx 5207R/5208R ISO's and did run again into some FUBAR-SNAFU of epic proportions. As I'm about to wrap up the development of 5209R on CentOS7 it's time for me to post some thoughts on the process. A bit more about the modern theme progress. This is further progress report about the rethemed BlueOnyx. This is another progress report about the rethemed BlueOnyx. Fourteen days after the teaser screenshots it's time for another progress report on the modern theme effort for BlueOnyx. My notes and thoughts about a recent infrastructural change of the BlueOnyx YUM repositories. More fun and frustrations while rolling up BlueOnyx ISO images. Fixing the remaining SSL certificate handling issues on BlueOnyx 5107R and 5108R. Looking at the SSL certificate import issue on 5107R and 5108R. A fact finding tour. Due to popular demand I set out to build 5107R and 5108R ISO's based on CentOS-6.2. The toaster gets warmed up to drop out new ISO images ... and the frustration level rises. How the "massive" BlueOnyx update currently in the pipe came about. It was a small problem that needed a pretty big solution. How and why CMU v2.90 was rolled up. That went well then! Time to release BlueOnyx 5108R. Development of he 64-bit BlueOnyx continued today. The development of the 64-bit version of BlueOnyx just got started. There are two different way of creating Sausalito GUI pages. One is using CobaltUI.php, the other one is using pure UIFC instead. This article details why using CobaltUI.php is bad. Our 5107R ISO image was plagued by a few glitches. It was time for another go at it to see if these could be fixed. Additionally Scientific Linux released SL6.1 a few days ago and it was time to see what impact that would have on 5107R. Today another set of fixes was rolled out for 5107R. The hunt for the "final five" continues. What's this smell? Something's cookin'? :o)
5107R ISO images and OS templates are ready. CentOS 6.0 is finally out. A closer look at things and a status update on the BlueOnyx 5107R development. The long awaited replacement of Majordomo with Mailman is now available in the 'BlueOnyx-Testing' YUM repository. Sometimes it are the small things that drive you nuts ... A first look at BlueOnyx 5107R. A new start also offers new possibilities ... First major push for BlueOnyx on CentOS 6.0 has started.
